Kolte Lake

Mere 73 km from Mumbai is situated a paradise called Kolte. It is a beautiful lake hemmed in by mountains on 3 sides and bordered by trees through which you can glimpse small huts. It is very near to Khopoli on the state highway # 1 connecting Mumbai and Pune. It is really hard to believe heaven exists so close to the hustle n bustle of Mumbai city and the noisy highway.

The beautiful countryside -
With numerous hillock guarding the lake this place is worth a visit especially after the downpour. The mountains wear a fresh new look in varying shades of green and are worth a watch. The best thing do do when you are here is to spend your time gazing at the mountains and listening to the wondeful music of the waves created in water.
Waterfalls -
During monsoon the place has on offer numerous waterfalls - big 'n small. One has to wander through the woods to get to one of these and you can spend a wonderful time.
Tudor Retreat -
A beautiful resort right next to the lake. It offers a comfy stay and some yummy village food.
Ganesh Temple -
The famous ashtavinayak shrine of Mahad is very close by. One can visit this on the way.
