This beautiful lake lies 26 kilometres west of Satara on the enroute Bamboli. The road leading to the lake is a treat for nature-lovers, especially after the rains in September. Everything is a lush green and wears a fresh new look. Visible to the left is the Sajjangad fort while to the right is the Kanher Dam. The road suddenly curves around the mountain and you come to a plateau where, encircled by dense trees, is the Kaas Lake. To one side you will notice a range of flat-topped mountains, similar to Panchagani's tabletop. Several boulders can be seen on the side of the road, upon which black-faced monkeys sit watching you. A road leads around the lake into the Kaas village. The Kasaidevi temple is just outside this village. From here you will get an excellent view of the lake and the green-coloured guest house on its banks. A kuccha road from the village takes you to this guest house. This lake is 3,500 feet from mean sea level and in the monsoon it plays host to the huge black clouds. The red mud, cool climate and lush greenery is conducive to a wonderful holiday.
