From the Panorama Point at Matheran a beautiful waterbody attracts our attension. This is Gadeshwar lake popular among the locals as the Panvel Lake, It lies on the trek route to Matheran as one proceeds in the direction of Sunset Point and Monkey Point.

Surrounding Peaks -
The lake commands a beautiful panaroma of the apexes in the vicinity. Prominent among these are Matheran, Peb, Nakhind, Chanderi, Navra-Navri (groom and bride) pinnacles and Haji Malang.
Fauna -
The lake is a home for many a migratory birds. The lake is a haven for lots of birds including storks and egrets who visit the edge of the lake. It is the place to be for a bird enthusiast and photographers.

By Rail -
Panvel is the nearest rail head connected by local trains from Mumbai
By Road -
Regular buses ply to Panvel from Mumabi and Pune. Enroute Waghachiwadi via Panvel is a wee settlement called Nere. 2 kilometres down this road, to the left, is Shantivan, a colony developed for lepers. If you continue straight down the road you will reach Gadeshwar Lake.
